AUGUST 30th JULY – 5th AUGUST: CONSCIOUS DYING COURSE

The practice of Conscious Dying (Tib. Phowa) enables us both to master the dying process for ourselves and to actively help others when they pass away, leading all to a state of great bliss. In the process of dying, this meditation will help us to enter the pure land of the Buddha of Limitless Light.

During the seven days of meditation, Lama Ole Nydahl will give teachings on death, the intermediate state (Tib. bardo), and rebirth.

The course will start in the evening of July 30th and last until the afternoon of August 5th at the latest.

If you are coming to the Conscious Dying course for the first time, you need to prepare by meditating on the Buddha of Limitless Light, while repeating the mantra OM AMI DEWA HRI. Please learn the meditation at your nearest Diamond Way Buddhist Centre and complete 100,000 mantras before the course. You are also required to remain for the entire Conscious Dying course (until Sunday evening). To do the Conscious Dying meditation, Buddhist refuge is necessary. Lama Ole Nydahl will give refuge at the beginning of the course.

During the Phowa course we strongly recommend to parents with children using our childcare.

AUGUST 6th – 9th: GURU YOGA TEACHINGS BY H.H. 17th GYALWA KARMAPA AND LAMA OLE NYDAHL

Gyalwa Karmapa will give guru yoga teachings in the afternoons and Lama Ole will give teachings about Milarepa, Marpa and Rechungpa.

In the evening of August 8th, Lama Ole Nydahl will give a public lecture in German, starting at 20:00.

AUGUST 9th: 12 HOUR MEDITATION ON 16th KARMAPA GUIDED BY H.H. 17th GYALWA KARMAPA

We have the great opportunity to meditate on the 16th Karmapa for a whole day together with our lamas, and we are very happy that the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje will guide the meditation.

AUGUST 10th – 12th: EMPOWERMENTS AND TEACHINGS BY GYALWA KARMAPA THAYE DORJE

This year the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa finishes off the course by giving empowerments into the Kagyu masters Rechungpa and Marpa. An empowerment is a ceremony that introduces a Buddhist practitioner to the power-field of an enlightened master or buddha aspect. They are often given as a blessing to create a bond between teacher and student as well as to purify any obstacles on the path to enlightenment.
